Alpha Omega Publications has been revolutionizing education since 1977 by developing innovative Christian curricula and providing outstanding service and support. The AOP story blossomed from a vision to provide families, Christian schools, and bookstores with outstanding educational products.
AOP set out to achieve that goal with innovative products, quality service, and reliable support. Our vision quickly transformed into a winning formula for education, and our loyal customer base started to grow. AOP began with a single-product offering which was designed to meet the diverse needs of many parents, students, and Christian schools who depend on our educational material. Today, we have grown into seven brands, including Classes2You, Switched-on Schoolhouse®, LIFEPAC®, Horizons, The Weaver Curriculum®, Power-Glide, and the Alpha Omega Academy®.
In addition, we use a variety of resources that help us honor our commitment to exceptional customer service. You will find a live, interactive demo of our computer-based products right here at this website. We utilize Human Click, a live chat room, to give you instant access to our customer service team.
Our innovation gives you all the flexibility, convenience, and affordability you should expect when it comes to educating students. We will continue to revolutionize the education experience for our deserving customers. After all, AOP wants to show our gratitude for your support over the past few decades. Thank you for putting your trust, and children's future, in caring hands. AOP looks forward to many more years of innovation, milestones, and success!
Can my student go at his/her own pace? Academy students are required to show 180 school days of instruction (one day of instruction includes 45-60 minutes per day, per subject). Students can complete their courses over a shorter period of time by doubling up on the hours of study or by doing an occasional double session, working on weekends, etc.
How much student work does the parent have to grade? The parent is responsible for all daily work, quizzes, reports, and projects. The Academy grades the LIFEPAC® tests for each unit.
What will I need to send in to the Academy?
The LIFEPAC tests, found in the middle of the LIFEPAC, should be sent in to the Academy as they are completed. We also require a quarterly report for attendance and the results of the self-test scores.
Do we have to wait until the fall to enroll? No, you may enroll at any time during the year; anyone registering after December 31 will be assigned a semester program rather than a full-year program.
What is the turn-around time for the grading of LIFEPAC unit tests? Generally speaking, approximately 2 weeks. Be sure to proceed to the next unit while waiting for the graded test to be returned.
Will we get report cards? Yes, you will receive a cumulative grade report at the end of each quarter and a final grade report at the end of each year.
May I run my student’s program any way I choose? There are certain freedoms which automatically go with opting to home school. If enrolled in the Academy, you will be responsible to follow all Academy policies and regulations, (this includes certain time restraints). Curriculum will be accompanied by a Parent/Teacher Handbook to address these issues. You should keep this handbook close for easy access to reference for the full school year. (It would be appropriate to have your upper-level student also read this book).
When do we get a transcript with high school credits and GPA? When your high school student transfers out from the Academy, we will, upon written request only from the parent or school, supply the new school with an official transcript. When your high school senior graduates, we will send an unofficial transcript to you. Upon written request only, we will forward an official copy to any college(s).
What should I do if I am not able to help my student with upper-level academic concepts? You may call AOA for academic assistance. If you find that you are calling quite frequently, you will want to hire a tutor for the particular area of difficulty.
Will my student have one particular teacher or counselor assigned to him or her? No. Any of our qualified teachers may, at one time or another, grade your student’s tests or projects or answer their academic questions over the phone.
Do you have a payment plan? The Academy offers a two-part payment plan. The first half of the tuition is due before the curriculum is shipped and the remainder is due in 90 days thereafter. If you pay the tuition in full at the time of shipment, you will receive a $50.00 discount.
What is the parent’s responsibility? Parents are the primary teachers. Parents are responsible for grading daily work and quizzes, supervising the student, and keeping track of attendance. Tests must be sent in as completed, and quarterly reports must be sent at the end of each quarter.
Can I enroll my student for only one high school course? Yes, there is a $50.00 enrollment fee. A full-year course is $175.00 and worth 1 credit. A semester course is $87.50 and worth ½ credit. A placement test is not required for part-time students.
How long should my student spend working each day? Most students spend 45-60 minutes on each subject each day.
Do I receive answer keys? Yes. Teacher Guides are sent with the curriculum; for grades 7-12, the LIFEPAC test keys have been removed.
Can I use other curriculum? Elementary students must use AOP curriculum. High school students must primarily use AOP's curriculum but they may, for an additional fee, include outside courses, if pre-approved.
How long until we will receive the curriculum? Typically after the tuition is paid, your curriculum should arrive by UPS in 7 to 10 business days. In some cases, the registration and testing process may take anywhere from two to eight weeks to complete, depending on the time of year and the expediency with which the necessary items are completed and returned to the Academy.
