Stone has good reason to be highly particular about his eyewear — he has an inherited retinal disease called cone-rod dystrophy that's stealing his vision. In fact, he's using the event in Kona to raise money for The Foundation Fighting Blindness, a nonprofit that funds the research to cure vision-robbing retinal diseases.

"When it comes to protecting my eyes for a lifetime," adds Stone, "The Foundation Fighting Blindness is the best investment I can make. The Foundation is funding the promising research that gives me and millions of other people hope for cures from blinding retinal conditions."

Champion sit-skier Candace Cable is a self-described "woman on a mission to educate people to motivate and educate humans about how to open their eyes to the light of possibilities that surround us"...and, at 50-plus, she remains her own gold-medal textbook example. Disabled alpine and cross country medal-winner, she does her skiing "homework" and relishes every test on skis.

World Champion X-Terra Athlete Jamie is inspired to help others as confirmed by her donation of time and money to the Huntington's disease of America Society. She has started "Jamie's Race for Research" in an effort to find a cure for the disease. Her mother-in-law passed away from complications of the disease and her sister-in-law has recently tested positive for carrying the Huntington's gene. She will begin to show signs of the disease within the next 10-15 years. Jamie's hope is that the medical community finds a cure before her sister-in-law begins to show any signs. Her goal is to spread awareness of this disease as well as raise as much money for research through raffles, races, T-shirt sales, flat donations and hopefully her sponsors as well.
